Your call: hype or real?

Real = it will matter in daily use. Hype = louder than it is. One vote, and it can’t be changed.

Our view and readers’ views are opinions, not statements of fact about a product.

Why it matters

Loud robot vacuums often get switched off before they finish, so a quieter one can clean more fully.

Watch: the main difference is the noise.

The Matic Serene costs $1,695 in the US and is available now.
At top suction it runs at 52 decibels, against 55 for the original, and the company says that is about as quiet as a refrigerator.
The original Matic stays on sale at $1,495.
The company says it is otherwise the same Matic, with a new hardware stack.
Current Matic owners can request a hardware upgrade in early 2027.

WatchThe main difference is the sound; the price is about $200 higher.
