Your data stays with you.

On your device only

Your profile (what you do, your devices, budget, topics), your reading progress, your theme and your last visit time are saved in your browser’s local storage. They are never sent to us. You can clear them any time from your profile or your browser settings.

What our server sees

Like every website, our web server records basic request logs: IP address, browser type, page requested and time. We use them only to keep the site running and safe from abuse. They are deleted automatically after about five weeks. Our server is hosted in France (EU).

We also count visits: when a page opens, your browser tells our own server which page it is and which site sent you. We work out the country from the IP address and then drop the address. No cookie is used, and our reports keep only totals.

If you vote Hype or Real

Voting needs no account. To keep it to one vote per person, our server makes a scrambled code from your network address and browser. The code cannot be turned back into your address. It is deleted when voting on a story closes after seven days, and only the totals stay. Your own choices are also remembered in your browser so the buttons stay locked.

If you sign in with Google

Signing in is optional. Google shares your name and email address with us, nothing else. We keep them with the profile you choose, so it works on all your devices, and we set one sign-in cookie. You can sign out, or delete your account and everything in it, from your profile.

If you subscribe by email

We keep your email address, what you chose (the daily brief, companies or events), your time zone so event times are right, and your profile type if you set one. We use them only to send what you asked for. Nothing is sent until you confirm. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing deletes your address.

How we use AI

AI tools help us find, sort and draft stories quickly. Every brief must pass the same rules: a real source for every fact, plain words, no invented numbers, and a fair, friendly tone. Our editor sets those rules and we fix mistakes fast.

What we don’t do

• No cookies, except one sign-in cookie if you choose to sign in.
• No analytics scripts, ads or tracking pixels, including in our emails.
• No third-party scripts or fonts. Everything loads from our own server.
• We don’t sell or share data.

If you email us

We keep your message and address only to reply and to handle your request, such as a correction.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, under laws like the EU GDPR and the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law. Write to hello@getnews.online.
